Antonio -- surely on his way out

...isnt he? All that crap last week on his podcast, then after the game, while everyone was celbrating with the cup and fans, hes' playing roly-poly in the centre circle with his kids likes its a family fun day for the dog & duck second 11 . Disrepectful and shows again a wierd side of his character

So- he's off for a "final" pay day, the Ings experimaent is a costly failure and who knows where scammacca will end up

A complete new front line next season then ;-))

goose - On the face of it no, but these things can be worked out if all parties want the move i.e Leeds offer him a longer deal, or we let him go at a cut price if we won't rid, plus Leeds are hardly skint, and what price coming straight back up.

But the issue here is, as said below, it's ridiculous how dependent we are on him now, so what gives?

If he didn't have an ego the size of a planet, the absolute perfect role for him now, especially at his age and playing style, would be impact sub. The toys would come out of the pram though.

Problem is, and it's a huge one, is how on earth can we go into a season under this manager without Antonio as an option? We haven't been able to be remotely competitive without the raw battering ram up front. Obviously we need to try something new, but we need him if the same happens again and we're battling relegation.

The situation is that we know he's near the end. But it's risky getting an exact replacement as there aren't many/any.

Given this we hope for a better option but that's unknown as Moyes isn't the most creative (!). So we could end up selling him, being unable to change and stuck in a misfiring system.

Time to move on for sure.
He's been excellent for us. Some vital and fantastic goals. Sometimes unplayable.

More clinical striker would be an upgrade but not many are fast and strong as him.

But I've changed my mind about it a bit. Is it better to keep him on as a sub/ 2nd choice?
Depends on
Who will be 1st choice (enormous question - can we play to ing' strengths?)
Is it better if he leaves for the squad now he's shooting mouth off more and eyeing career after football as a pundit or whatever.
He continued to stay injury free. He's done well for appearances recently.

Can see Scammacca and Ings leaving and scoring masses of goals elsewhere is a system to suit them.

There will definitely be clubs in for him, not to many front men like him around and he has a decent goal record. Forest, Palace, Everton could be three interested parties.

He's done well for us overall, but agree it's really time he was moved on and we move on from him, and fancy he wants to go himself now too.

It surprises me that Moyes has never used him as a winger, where he could still be quite effective imo, especially coming on as a sub when defenders are tiring.

In terms of getting shot, I agree, for all the reasons already stated. Not sure how much demand there will be for his services though. Totally agree that we need to change our style to suit a proper striker like Scamacca if he stays. Cast your mind back a few months and he scored two or three nice goals laid on by Paqueta, which is exactly what we should work on for next season, especially now that Paqurta has found his mojo.

Agree on that. There’s a lot of money needed to just get the squad ready for Prem 2024. It’s going to be ruthless.

Been looking at some of the games replayed, we have do much mediocrity in the squad, we need a reboot

Whilst he was playing with his kids the fans where I was standing (halfway between the dugout and the Fiorentina fans) started singing his name. Took him an age to even acknowledge we were even there. Weird bloke with a bad dentist.

Not quite bollocks. Pretty close really. One of the kids is Mrs Antonio's, but the other one was born only 2 months after (or before - whatever). Hence the soon-to-be ex-Mrs Antonio's ire.

In other news... People getting divorced from famous people should probably try to resist confiding in their hairdresser...

I think you have a player here who is going to get as many plaudits as critics. He’s marmite for sure. I think he has been the perfect foil at the front in the current system but that doesn’t mean we should play that way in the future but it also doesn’t mean he was shit. There are many many teams who just couldn’t play against him. He’s unique. I do think we have to change the style and format of our play and if he does leave that will be the catalyst. If Moyes can make the change successfully then great because most of this domestic season has been dog shit. As many have said already it’s not the lack of players it’s the playing format - the style - that’s the limiting factor right now for West Ham. We will be comfortable next season as there will easily be three worse fuckers that get relegated but a big challenge for the club when Rice leaves is how do you reinvent the leadership in this group. Anyway, we won European Cup. That’s priceless. COYI.

Traore, no thanks. More brainless than Antonio. 2 goals and 1 assist in the last 2 seasons and people want him to replace Antonio. I suppose they expect Moyes to perform a miracle.

Character wise seems to have changed drastically since he got his podcast going.

Smacks of a player that knows his career is close to its end in terms of seasons left in the top flight as those legs aren't getting any younger, prepping himself to get into media and punditry work by the looks of it.

I've heard many rumours about his alleged affairs. A friend of a friend claimed to know a young lady who had slept with him in Dubai.

Not a good look. I'm not a fan of him chatting a load of shit on podcasts every week either. Time to get rid.
